WHAT A … A … A … A … CHOO!
STUPENDOUS SPRING
(136 words)
By Tracy Smith Schmidt
You'd think I'd adore
all the flowers and trees—
but no, in the Spring,
they incite me to sneeze.
They are beautiful, sure,
but induce a gross mess.
Can't you see how my nose
is a source of distress?
It is swollen and red,
and I just want to stay
far away from the flora
that spew stuff my way.
I know it's dramatic,
but what can I do?
Should I wear a big helmet
to help with the goo?
But even with THAT,
lots of pollen would creep
slowly under my chin
and would STILL make me weep!
When Summer arrives
I will clap with delight.
I will hike in the forest,
less pollen to fight.
Until then I'll hide
in my house looking out
at the Springtime in bloom—
to save my poor snout!
